To create and use a Casewire account, we may collect:

  • Password, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash
  • Display name or username
  • Optional profile information you choose to add
  • Account settings and preferences

Content you upload

When you use your account to upload images, videos, audio, documents or other media, we store that content and the information attached to it, including:

  • The file itself
  • File name, file size, file type and upload date
  • Any title, description or annotation you add
  • Metadata embedded in the file

Information generated through your use of the service

  • Account activity such as login times, IP address used at login, and actions taken in your account

Who can see your uploaded content

By default, content you upload is private and visible only to you.

If you choose to share content (for example by inviting another user into your organization) it becomes accessible to those people.

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate user accounts:

  • A session or authentication token, stored in your browsers local storage, which keeps you signed in and is deleted when you log out or when the session expires.

This information is essential for the service to function and is not used for tracking or advertising. We do not use tracking cookies.

Log Files

Casewire follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Web analytics

We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics tool, to understand how our site is used. Matomo runs on our own servers, and analytics data does not leave our infrastructure.

No tracking cookies are used. No identifiers are stored on or read from your device.

We process: a shortened IP address, the pages you visit and time spent on them, the referring page, date and time of access, approximate region derived from the shortened IP, device type, browser, operating system and language.

Legal basis is our legitimate interest in analysing and improving our website. The collected data cannot be used to identify individual visitors, is not combined with other data sources, and is not shared with third parties.

Analytics data is deleted after 180 days.

We respect the “Do Not Track” browser setting. You can additionally object to analytics at any time.

Third Party Privacy Policies

Casewire’s Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.
